Total Kilometers this trip -  11315.9                                                Km travelled this day – 0

To start of this wonderful day, our neighbours and us headed to St. John Neuman Parish centre for breakfast, $7.00 gives you the works – wow what a good breakfast.

We also got to meet some other snowbirders, as Sonny and Pat had invited them as well.

After breakfast, Vadie and I headed to the Marine Corps Air Base.  Today was Base recognition day.  As we got to the base, we were ushered in to where dog handlers were showing what their dogs could do.

After the dog handling show, we boarded buses, hmm a Thomas bus, and were taken for a ride around the base, with a tour guide telling us what the building were.  We ended up at the airfield, we were allowed to disembark and actually go out onto the tarmac in front of the terminal.  There were two airplanes, a helicopter, fire truck and a 7 ton vehicle.  We were allowed to look closely at the equipment, and there were Marines ready to answer our questions.

 Harrier
 7 ton truck
 Huey
Fire truck - would this make a nice motorhome?
 4 Dutch aircraft
 one of them up close
 very noisy flyby of jets
another flyby

After we had had enough of looking, we boarded a bus – yesss a Bluebird bus, and headed back to main gate.  It was interesting.

We headed towards the old part of Yuma as on Main street was an outdoor market.

When we got home, Vadie decided that she wanted to cut material, hmm guess which material,  the ones that she said I could pack.  Oh well, I need practice packing anyhow LOL.  She ended up cutting quite a bit of material for eyepillows, heat bags, dish soap bottle aprons etc.  Now she has to get her butt in gear to start sewing.

We went to bed early tonight as our alarm was set for 7am, a fellow from Budget Blinds was coming at 8am to measure and cost out some new blinds for the coach.

Special Person Today – Pat Irving – Vadie’s Pottery teacher – bless her for showing Vadie how to do pottery. When we get home, with all the little nicknacks Vadie has purchased, she should be able to make a lot of moulds and get busy making pottery.  Vadie will likely have to take some lessons again on wheel throwing as she has not done that for quite some time.
