Today we headed out with Herb and Jody Hood to go to the  Castle Dome Mine.  The mine was operated from the mid 1800’s to 1979, mining lead, silver and other precious metals.  Since the mine closed, the town became a ghost town, and numerous people have owned it since.  It has now been turned into a museum of sorts, which has many of the old buildings and workings of the mine.  In each building there are stories of the happenings.

Once we finished the tour of the buildings and the 3/8 mile walkabout of the minesites, we decided to head toward the mountains, then follow the base of the mountain to the highway.  Somehow we missed the turn of the “Y” and ended up right in the mountains, Herb decided to push on and we ended up going over the mountains, yes, 4 wheel drive was required but it was a beautiful drive – wasn’t it Jody LOL.  There were a few rough spots – okay miles of rough spots. We ended up driving an additional 56 miles HMMMMM.
Sorry Jody, that your Lexus got a few extra scrapes on the side, Herb, you did a fine job of driving though.

Special People tonight – Les and Debra Wiley – another fine couple from BC who also own a 88WB.  It has been a pleasure to meet them, and work with Les on repairing the coaches.  It sure helps that we have identical coaches and can swap parts when need be.  Thanks Les and Debra for your hospitality.
