June 29th – Taber Ab to Medicine Hat Ab – Gas City Campground

June 29th – Taber Ab to Medicine Hat Ab – Gas City Campground
We drove from Tabor to Medicine Hat, approx. 140 km.  There is not much between these two places, except farmland and a few smaller communities.

We fuelled up in the Hat, both propane and diesel, so we should be good to go for many more miles. Access was easy and prices reasonable diesel 1.149 per litre and propane .90 per litre.
We got situated in the campground, this time we have water and 30 amp service so we are moving up LOL.  Showers are free here and close by.

By the days end, Joe,  Dannielle and Fiona’s family were here.  Wow, has the kids grown, the smaller ones now run and never stop talking, the older ones, well they just get bigger.  It sure is good to be with them again, as we only generally get to see them once per year.

We played carry the egg, frissbee, bocce, and croquet.  It was fun.  Oh yes, they have a lovely park here for the kids and we spent a fair bit of time there too.
As the sun was setting, we got a nice surprise – a car show,

then a 1951 pickup pulling a trailer full of pedal tractors that can be used for all ages.

Just as the Wilbor/Gibson family has adopted us, we were also adopted by a Dutch family.  Of all of our “family” they are the only ones we will not see this year, this will be the sad part of the trip.  However, they will be in our thoughts.

June 28, 2012 Municpal District of Taber Campground – Oldman River

Tim, Lori and Erin are off to work again.

Again we did laundry, dog blankets etc, and picked up a few more staples from town.  We went into Coaldale to say our goodbye to Lil and then into Lethbridge to say goodbye to John.  We met Lori and Erin in Coaldale, they do look cute in their Fed Ex uniforms.  Will post pic later.
This evening was the last time for us this season, we went over some more of the bus things, played bocce and dominoes.  It sure was a great evening.
We had to say our goodbyes as the three workers leave early in the morning, I do not hear Tim leave, but I usually hear Lori and Erin leave.
Bryson stays at the campsite, watches over the dogs and does many other things for his parents, including waxing the bus now LOL.

June 27th – Municipal District of Taber Campsite – Oldman River

June 27th – Municipal District of Taber Campsite – Oldman River

Tim is a Fed Ex agent, and I went with him on his route. First we sorted the packages, and loaded the trucks, then we headed to Medicine Hat approx 160km, to deliver the packages.  We also had to make some pickup of packages for the return trip.  It was an extremely long day, started at 5:15am and finished at 19:30pm.
Best of all, it was a great time with Tim, we got to know each other better.
A  good start, as we were leaving the campsite there was a deer nesting on the grass.
Picture dark, but deer in middle.

As I was working hard with Tim, would you believe that my lovely lady Vadie was spending my money.  Tim's daughter, Erin, texted and said that she had spent it all, Tim was quick to point out, that is okay, because the bus now belongs to Bill LOL.

Today, the winds were howling, but there was no more rain.  The campground is kinda muddy to say the least.  We tried playing bocce ball, but it certainly was different as the balls slowed down quickly.

The rain continued all night long, as well as the thunder and lightening.  Rain did not let up till noonish, and ½ of the campsite was closed due to being under water.  Some people had put there trailers and such in the campsite but were not there, so the caretakers were busy with trying to get them out of there.  We packed up much of our stuff, as we were not sure what was going to happen.  The Oldman River though was rising.

Not much was done today except play card and dice games in the 64.  Later in the afternoon, we did get to see some sunshine.  We saw a number of pelicans, wow, are they great swimmers – the river was flowing about 7 mph and they were swimming upstream and making headway.

Today was a day for repairs to be done to $quanderlodge II.  There were a number of issues, nothing that would stop us but annoy us.
Highest priority – master switch, then hazard lights, step light does not turn off when step is in, LED lights in living room, and finish installing other LEDs in living room and bedroom.
The master switch was changed, this was not an easy job, but it was done, hopefully this will solve the flickering lights and maybe even the Transmission “Do not Shift” light.  We tried to resolve the hazard lights (loose wire on column) and step light, but both require further investigation.

Had to cut it short so we could go do laundry, shopping, and posting of the blog, then come back  to make dinner for the “workers”.
This evening the dogs were terrified, thunder, lightening and lots of rain.

Sunday 24th – John’s Birthday

Sunday 24th – John’s Birthday

Tim cooked a lovely breakfast, fit for a king.

We took the dogs for a walk, then it was time to take “Jake” to a vet as he was really limping.  The vet said that he had pulled ligaments so  he is wearing a collar to stop licking and he not run.

Back to the campground to do a little more work on the 64.

For supper, we all went out for dinner to celebrate both John and Lil’s birthday.  The food was delicious but the enjoyment and laughter was boisterous.
John with his patches and box of  DD cookies.  During the second World War, John was a tail gunner in a Lancaster
Lil with a singing elephant, John was totally thrilled with it.

After dinner, we went back to the campsite, and tonight Bryson, Tim and Lil’s son, also came and set up  a tent.  We played bocce, the men beat the ladies haha, then retired early as Tim, Lori and Erin had to go to work early.  Hmmmm well I guess someone still has to go to work.

Just as we were going to bed, there was lightning and the rain started.
Erin and Bryson setting up Bryson's tent
Nice sunset just before it started to rain.
