Today was definitely a chore day.

I have been working on the top curve of the coach, polishing to get a shine back as well as trying to get some of the branch scratches to disappear.  Well, today I finished.

Just before lunch, we headed to the Laundromat, we started the laundry, then I headed out to Walmart to see if I could find a piece of roundstock for a roller that Herb needs for his coach, and then I also found another seal for the door, the last one was too thick.  I got back just in time to help Vadie fold the clothes.

We learned yesterday that our wonderful neighbour remained in the hospital overnight.  Pat was not sure when Sonny was going to be released, so I told her not to worry about supper, as we would have it ready when they got home.  So, when we got home from the Laundromat, Vadie was busy making supper.   As usual, Vadie had made a very delicious supper.

While Vadie was preparing supper, I went up to check why the down light switch for the TV antenna  would not go out. Inside the mechanism there was a very hard crusted mud dapper nest, I had to remove the cover so I could chisel it out with my screwdriver.  I reset the limit switch, also replaced the bottom rubber pads, and it again works like it was designed.

Last, I again worked on the door somewhat, but still not satisfactory, well I will keep plugging away, sooner or later, it will work as designed.  The problems I am having with the door, whistles in the wind, sometimes hard to close, electric door lock does not close as the door is too far out – all three have to work hand in hand.

Special people today – Fred and Wendy Bellows – for allowing us to stay at their place, helping us with the sound system and TV installation, but mainly for the lovely people that they are.  Thanks again for everything.

Even though there is not to much to write down today, both Vadie and I were busy.

Vadie went to the beading place with Jody, to learn how to make hearts. She came home with a heart, no actually she come home with two hearts LOL, one she made herself out of beads.

I went with Herb and we checked his coachs air system out.  I showed him where his main air tanks are located, we were also trying to run down some leaks.  Another discussion which I took to the Wanderlodgeownersgroup forum, what do each of the compressors serve, it appears on Herb’s coach they are all tied together, and I don’t think they should be.  Could be a valve is open or a check valve does not work.

Special people for today – all the great guys Powell and I used to have breakfast with.  They befriended me, and made me one of the guys.  Hmmm, was this so they had someone else to pick on then, well it sure was fun LOL.

Yesterday, our neighbours who are usually home early, stayed out very late.  We met them this morning and I was kidding her that they were out past their bedtime, “you know, that you are supposed to call when you want to do that” .  After all kidding aside, she mentioned that they were at the hospital most of the day and evening – Sonny had problems with his heart.  He had a heart attach numerous years ago, and is presently wearing a pacemaker, so they were concerned.  He seems to be okay now, but will have to take it easy for a couple of days.

We headed off to see some of the sights today.  Our first stop was to go on a tour of the Peanut Patch.  Unfortunately, the tour was cancelled this Friday, and will start up again in the New Year.  Oh well, off we headed to the next place – Cloud Museum in Bard Ca. (Winterhaven Ca.)  Where do I begin with this story.
He has almost every kind of motorized thing from the early years, some restored and a lot just there but working.  I will post pics, because my words cannot do it justice – well worth looking into.

 numerous old unrestored vehicles

 Restored vehicles

 older pickup
 doll buggies
 pedal cars
some of the hundreds of old licence plates

 kitchen utensils
 more unrestored vehicles
motorhome
While walking through this museum, we were thinking of  Lori and Tim, as well as Debbie and John who both have one of these older type of vehicles.  Ken in Mathis, would also be very interested in this place, I would think.

After the museum, a little further up the road we went into two date gift shops.  At the Sun Gardens we had our first date shake.  It was yummy.  Numerous people had told us about it, how good it tastes but also how rich it was.  Well, it was worth every drop.  Vadie purchased some dates and other goodies from both stores.
 trees of the date farm
 short date tree
 tall date trees
 farms - lettuce
 lettuce - date farms
 more lettuce
 broccoli farm
Our next stop, pottery places, but we could not find any.  We did however go into a few art galleries which had pottery in it.
While touring the area, there were numerous antique shops, it would be so nice to furnish a home with all this kind of goodies.  At this one antique shop, Vadie picked up a load of old license plates, things she wants to use for her pottery.  I also picked up a diecast model of a motorhome – these are hard to find.

During all of this, we had taken our furry ones with us, so we walked with them at different places.  They sure like going for car rides, actually being with us at all times.

 chopped vehicle - nice job
When we got home, Vadie made dinner and I continued on with cleaning the door area so the new rubber stripping could be installed – all ready for tomorrow.

Special people today – Daughter Cyndi, husband Steve, and children Jordan, Andrew and Jessica.  Cyndi has been doing a numerous of firsts this year - making turkey soup from scratch is one of them LOL.

We arranged to go out with Herb and Jodi Hood.  They had recommended that we come and stay in Yuma instead of the Phoenix area, and we are glad we did.

Since we arrived here, when Herb took us around to look at the RV spots, we have not seen them.  Jodi has been sick and only now been able to get out and do some walking etc.  We headed to downtown Yuma, sad that many stores have closed there, but we did go into one store – Marge’s Beading Place.  Marge is a friend of Jodi’s, and Vadie likes beading as well so that was the first stop.  While the ladies were in the bead shop, Herb and I walked around the town, went into a few antique shops and generally browsed.

Once the ladies were ready to go, we headed to a very large indoor flea market.  There were many things there, Vadie purchased a few things, otherwise it was mainly browsing.

Today’s special people – Mike and Sue Bulriss.  Another lovely couple who is dedicated to preserving the coaches we dearly love.  Mike is the owner of the original WanderlogeYahoo forum.  It too has lots of info – Thanks Mike.
