Sept 10th –
Leask - Saskatoon Sask Weather
– Clear, 9 C
Total Kilometers this trip – 2052.9 Kilometers
today – 106.9
With sadness we had to say goodbye to Aunt Christine. As other mornings we went for coffee at the
Leask Municipal office with Brenda. We
started packing up and checking things and were ready to leave about 12:20, but
she says – oh no you don’t, not until you have a good lunch. During lunch she said, you didn’t expect me
to eat all the leftovers by myself, did you?
The coach started with ease, and we went on our way. The trip went smoothly, the wind was the only
thing that was pushing us around a little.
As we were leaving Leask, Brenda’s boyfriend, whom is a
trucker, went by, so we followed him to Saskatoon.
Vadie managed to get a picture of the Leask entrance sign,
seven days and we forgot each time – go figure.
After driving the many miles on open road, going into Saskatoon,
the roads became quite narrow. We
managed to find Kevin and Joani Barnett’s place. They are the proud owner of a 1979 FCSB.

They both wanted to see what the inside of a 40 ft coach was
like, so were anxious to see when we arrived. As Vadie is the proud BB owner she
was more than excited to show it off as well.
We then went to their coach.
They are newbies, and I think that they picked up a very nice
coach. He mentioned a lot of things that
did not work, there were a lot of wires cut under the dash etc. but I am sure Kevin and the Wanderlodge
forums will figure it all out. The previous owner(s) had done some things to
the coach which make things work but certainly not BB standards.
As he had his learners air brake licence, he could not drive
it by himself, but with me he could, so he asked if we could go for a
drive. The generator and engine were
both started, and did they start with ease – very nice.
The engine smoked a little on startup and when warmed up it
was gone. The transmission shifted a little hard, but later it was discovered
that the oil level was a little low. As Kevin drove out of the gate and onto
the highway, he gleamed from ear to ear. Joani, was also beaming with excitement.

Can you imagine finding a coach which is perfect, then not
being able to drive it – YIKES.
When we got back to the storage compound, we went over a few
things but then realized that the time was flying by, our tummies certainly told
us as well – it was almost 9pm before we ate dinner.
The wind picked up during the evening – 30 kph with gusts to
50kph. Just like with the thunder and
lightning, poor Bruce was a basketcase.
This again let us have a very restless night.
Special persons today, there are so many to chose from, but
today I would like to say hi to Don Sabo and Mavis Haugen. We will miss having a pop/tea and homemade
goodies and of course their good company.
Mavis has worked closely with Vadie, as she knits and Vadie sells the
items. We also have numerous bluebird
toques of hers which we will sell at our rallies.
