Time to leave “The Hat”.  Dannielle and the kids came to say their goodbyes till next spring when we come through again.  We had dumped our waste waters and hooked up the trailer ready to go on the road.

It will soon be Emily’s birthday, August 22nd, so we gave her some gifts.

We left around 10:30am and we knew we had a long drive ahead of us.  We cruised along lazily at 55 mph (90kph) and the trucks and cars went past us one after another.  I knew that we had a load of clay as the coach did not romp like it did going to “The Hat”.  Looking up the Hwy you could see the curvature of the earth and the road disappeared over it.

We stopped at a pullout along Hwy 1 and it was a nice place with a bird sanctuary.

Instead of going through Calgary, we skirted it by going up Hwy 21 then onto Hwy 72.  As we were going along Hwy 72 we noticed a definite storm cloud hanging over the Calgary area and were glad we had skirted it.

From Hwy 72 we travelled north on Hwy 2.  Remember that storm cloud we missed in Calgary, well we hit one going north.  It was dark, then started raining, so hard that I and many others pulled over, then hailed, and we were right under this big dark cloud.  Lightening, then thunder, then an awesome “BOOM” that rattled the coach, and poor Bruce was terrified – it took him almost an hour to calm down.

Just as quick as it started it was all over, then we were in the sunshine again, it got really hot, and all the airconditioners in the coach were turned on to cool it down.

We snaked through the back roads to get to John and Debbie’s place in Carvel Ab,
We arrived about 6:30 pm, and they had a wonderful barbeque rib dinner waiting for us.
After dinner, I mentioned to him about Kelly McLaughlin’s coach, and especially about the fan in the living room, the one with 4 corner lights etc.  John piped up and said, hmmm I got that too, and Debbie said “no” you don’t.  So up to the coach we go, and well there you go, he has a typical one as on Kelly’s coach with 4 lights in it.  On $quanderlodge it was a fantastic vent, so I knew no different, except that the switches did not all work.  Now I know that the fan had been changed, I sure like the original one though. Does this mean I might have to get another FC??  Randy, I need an older one LOL.
