July 4th, 2012 – Gas City Campground – Medicine Hat, Ab

Sunny, slight wind

Wow, what a night, the wind howled most of the night. As I took the dogs out for a walk, the maintenance crew was busy picking up a lot of the branches that had broken off. As we were leaving the campground, a truck with a chipper was coming in to look after some of the bigger stuff, maybe even trim some of the branches that had broke but not fallen.
We had a vet appointment again for Jake, his left paw is
swollen?? We went to the vet and there
was no way that she was going to look at the paw short of sedating him. She did
get to feel it once and thought it might be a tumor or growth and should be
looked at, they could sedate him and then operate etc. I told her that we would be home in two
weeks time, could it be okay till then, and she said yes. We will nurse him till we get home, things
like putting antibiotics on it, and also having Epsom salt baths.
I talked to Kellie Mclaughlin (owner of 82FC) and we will be
meeting tomorrow. I am looking forward
to that.
Vadie and I (mostly Vadie) made dinner for the family
tonight, 13 of us, roast beef, carrots, asparagus, mashed potatoes, bean salad,
chunky vegetable salad and of course yummy gravy. I guess everyone like it, as there were not
many leftovers. Later that evening we
started a fire and how quickly the marshmallows, crackers and chocolate
disappeared too.

The younger kids went to the park to play, and as usual we
played both bocce and croquet – what a
